I recently did something to my computer, and now all programs with fixed
window sizes (calculator, dialog boxes, etc.) are considerably wider. Any
ideas how to get them back to "normal" size?

Open Control Panel/Personalizations/"Tasks" pane. see link for "Font
Size(DPI)" and set it smaller.
