vista wireless connection

I have a wireless capable laptop and a desktop with a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB
Connector which enables a Nintendo Wii to connect to the internet.

The laptop can see the USB connector but can't talk to it. Can anyone tell
me if this type of connection is possible and if so, what I need to do to
make it work.
