Hello

This morning i got a very nasty surprise, vista will not boot, my HP laptop
will only beep and have a blank screen, the hard drive and other lights
blinking and i could hear the laptop working, but nothing. I restarted the
computer, only to get a message saying that windows had a problem and gave me
to choices either to start the start up recovery or start normally , I
selected the first one and pressed enter and nothing happened. i restarted
again, pressing f8 and still nothing, it used the recovery cd and vista dvds
but those only got me to the green progress bar, after 40 minutes it's still
there, i can see the green squares in the bar moving but other than that i
get nothig.

what can i do? how can i re-install windows?

have in mind that loss of data is not an issue, all important data was
backed up two days ago. But please, can anyone help me, my computer is very
important for my job and i need to fix it asap. Thank you.

How many times did it beep? (This is the computer's way of telling us what
is wrong)

Those beeps are an audible code from your motherboard telling you that
something is seriously wrong with a piece of hardware. This has nothing
to do with Windows. BIOS beep codes differ from BIOS to BIOS so you can
Google for your BIOS codes or, more efficiently, call HP tech support
since they will know the meaning of the beep codes for their products.
Again, this has nothing to do with the operating system (Vista). This is
hardware failure, so exercise your warranty.

Malke, thank you very much, you've been very helpful. I will see about that
warranty.
