Vista won't open any program, then freeze

Hello everybody.

First off I would like to say that I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong
category of the forum...

Ok here we go.

I've been running on Vista for 6 month now, 1 HD 2 partitions, (1 OS, 1
data), also have a windows 7 boot installed on the data partition.
Since yesterday however, when I boot vista, after I logged in my
session and after all the processus of this one have loaded, it becomes
impossible to open ANY application (including the task manager), and
trying to open them ultimately leads to the system freezing.

I'm currently booted on Win 7 and redownloading my antivirus to run a
full scan of the HD from 7, but checking the process list when I log on
vista, I do not find anything unusual and/or suspect.

Vista won't even start in safemode...

Any idea what the problem might be ?

Malware/spyware is the likely problem, and many of them will not show in the
processes list (it's fairly easy to disguise a process). Running an AV scan
from another OS can help, as can tools like HiJackThis
(http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/) and Autoruns
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb963902.aspx) to isolate
and remove startup entries related to the malware.
