Vista wont remote but XP will? HELP!

Hi
PLEASE HELP am on work hols in US and need to RDC to my work comp. This I
could do from home (with Vista) no probs but now o/s it wont work. Have
tried on spare laptop with XP and it works. It gets to the page with the IP
address and just freezes or doesnt seem to have enuf grunt to keep going. I
also cant connect with windows live msn chat, or logmein.com. I was asked if
I was using port25 but dont know where to find out. PLEASE HELP ME

When you setup the Remote Desktop connection on Vista, did you tell it to
ONLY use the newer version of Remote Desktop? If yes, that's the issue. Can
you ping it?

I'd try installing the new version of Remote Desktop on your XP laptop, and
try again...

I had a similar problem with Vista using a VPN. The VPN would work using XP,
but not Vista. Took a long time to track down, but in the end turned out to
be MS-CHAP settings. The firewall at the business needed configuring to allow
MSChap v2 as well as 1. Once this was done, it worked a treat.

The Remote Desktop was never the issue for us, but without the VPN (pptp
VPN) it wouldn't have a chance.
