I added my Vista RC2 notebook to my SBS2003R2 domain and by default the WSUS
took control of Windows update as it should. However, WSUS is not getting
Vista updates so I removed the Vista notebook from the WSUS. However the
Vista update tells me it is still managed by the administrator. I ran gpedit
and there are no policies configured for update services. How do I either get
WSUS to get Vista updates, or release my Vista notebook from the grasp it is
in and free it to get updates directly from Microsoft the way it did before
the domain joining?

I am on a page that has the title "Windows Vista" and a subtitle "Windows
Vista Newsgroups" and below that a list of newsgroups including this one
called "Windows Update." This should be EXACTLY where to get help with this
issue.

Have you posted in any of the links as given?
Have you searched within this update group to see if there has been any
other similar thread to yours.
Have you tried help/support( I know it is not much use most times)?
If you had you would have only found 10 in the last month re vista - most
were about upgrade of the betaware. Now that should tell you something.
The fact that you have had no reply other than mine in 24 hours should tell
you a bit more.
Most of those vista threads posted here have been referred/crossposted to
the link/links already given.
It would appear to me that you could be in the wrong group after all :-)
Sorry I can do no more.
