So I've been getting this error code for a month now and of course the Vista
machine remains unpatched. I have tried every single solution listed on this
site (I'm quite capable of using the search function) from checking the BITS
service to re-registering the dependent dll files.

I get entrypoint not found when trying to register wudriver.dll and qmgr.dll

I cannot re-install the OS on this machine. Does anyone have any further
suggestions I can try? Worst case scenario would be just skipping updating
this machine altogether and relying on my anti-virus software alone, which is
what I have been doing for the past month.

Nowhere in that post were you directed to post your HJT log in this
newsgroup.

<QP>
When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachi...php?board=10.0,
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**
</QP>

And there's no way you downloaded/ran the MSRT and ran WL Safety Center's
Protection scan within 30 minutes of me posting my reply to this thread.

Sorry, I didn't realize that was a faux pas. I posted it on the spywarehammer
site now.

Also, I had run the Onecare scanner and other stuff before I even posted
here. This was a last resort after doing everything else I could think of.
