Vista x64 Failed Hibernation

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I bought a new HP dv7-1020us this past
Thursday. It came with Vista x64 pre-installed. I've made sure all the
drivers are up to date.

When I go to hibernate, the screen immediately goes black and there is
a flurry of disk activity for about 2 minutes. After that finishes, all
the lights remain on my laptop: power, volume, etc. I can wait 5 - 10
minutes and the computer never fully turns off.

I end up having to hold down the power button to shut off the computer.
On start up after that, I get the "Windows was not properly shut down"
message and there's no hibernation information.

My previous laptop, a HP dv9230us, had no problems with hibernation
under Vista 32bit.

Can anyone provide any guidance as to why this is happening? I've also
noticed that shutdown is quite a long process as well. Is this common
under x64?

You can try this fix:

The hybrid sleep feature and the hibernation feature in Windows Vista may
become unavailable after you use the Disk Cleanup Tool :

Use the "Ratings" feature. It helps the new users.
