Vista, XP & Network Issue

Home network w/ XP- Home on a PC and Vista on a laptop. Set up the
network and Vista sees the shared folder on the PC just fine and
vice-versa. I also have Password Protected Sharing enabled on the
laptop (Vista).

But when I attempt to access the laptop (Vista) shared folder from the
PC (XP), I get the userass prompt - enter the correct info - it won't
allow access. It just loops back to the same userass log-in window
over and over. Turning off Password Protected Sharing in Vista on the
laptop allows access w/o the prompt period. However I would like to
have userass set-up working.

I attempted changing passwords and creating new users through User Mgmt
in Vista but nothing helps. Also tried w/ and w/o firewall on.

Can you help me?

Who "owns" the folder, what "group(s)" has / have access permission and is
your user login a member of that group?

It is nothing to do with what this patrick said!

If you want to use password protected on vista, you have to create identical
accounts on BOTH computers.
It is a pain in the ass, that is why a lot of people just turn Password
Protected OFF.

Thanks all for replying. Turned out to be a firewall issue w/ McAfee.
