Visual Basic Script Support

I have been getting a Visual Basic Script Support needs to
be downloaded (with accompaning script errors when later
trying to enter sites, yahoo messenger, etc.). When I
have it download from the internet, it starts to load and
then stops telling me to use TOOLS>WINDOWS UPDATE. When I
go to windows update it will not scan my puter. Help!

I have had the same problem with a friends PC. It was running W98 and IE 5.5.
My answer was to go to Ms downloads and download Internet Explorer 6 SP1. It
downloads a download file, which checks to see what is needed, does not ask
for visual basic and enables the update to IE6. After that W98 Updates went
like a dream.... The posting is so old you have probably already sussed this.
