I have Windows Live email for Vista. At my old job, when an email was rec'd,
I saw a brief image on the lower rt part of my screen showing the name of the
emailer and the first sentence of the email. Can I get that visual
notification?

Windows Mail doesn't have that feature, but Thunderbird does.

I have Windows Live email for Vista AND Windows Live Messenger. With both
running, I get the 'new email' pop up every time new email comes in ---
unfortunately, including for SPAM mail. :-(

Hope this helps.
