I am using Visual studio 6.0 with Visual sourcesafe running on windows
XP. after installing XP sp2 Sourcesafe and Visual studio cannot
connect to Source safe anymore. I get the following errors:
The Database <database> does not exist. Would you like to search for
it? (
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...r_db_exist.asp)
then when I search for it I get:
Invalid filename: <File>
(
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...le_badname.asp)
The sourcesafe database exists on a network folder on a Novel server.
I have the 4.90 novel client.
I think it may be something with the firewall in XP SP2 and the IPX
connection, but I turned off the firewall and that doesn't fix the
problem, I still get the same thing.
Other notes:
1. Visual studio is at SP6 (also for Sourcesafe).
2. I could connect to sourcesafe fine before installing sp2.
3. The XP firewall doesn't always seam to get disabled, when I go
through and verify that it is disabled, positivly, then when I try to
connect to sourcesafe it causes a chrash of the OS.
4. I can browse for the database in the sourcesafe dialogs through a
mapped drive, but the path returned always is
"\\MAIN\R&D\Sourcecode\..." instead of "D:\R&D\Sourcecode\..." does
this mean anything?
any ideas?
Thanks,
