Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Update

Microsoft Update notifies me that I need to install SP1 for Visual Studio
2005. When I attempt to install it I get Error 0x643. The version of VS is:
8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200). Only SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL
Integration Services, and SQL Reporting Services are installed products. The
operating system is Server 2003 with SQL Server 2000 installed. Please
advise how to solve this situation.

I had this problem too and fixed it by freeing up more harddisk space on the
drive where VS was installed. Note that the installation requirements for
SP1 include "Recommended hard disk space: 6200 MB".

In case you haven't seen how other people fixed this problem, here are two
suggestions that reportedly fixed this problem for other people ...

Updated "Software Restriction Policies" ...

Downloaded the installer manually:

I have 64.6 GB of free disk available and 1 GB of main memory with no other
applications running when trying to install the service pack. The original
install was the free SQL Server support version, if that is significant.
