Visual Studio 2005 SP1 won't install (unable)

I have multiple Dev machines that WU fails to apply VS 2005 SP1 onto. After
trying for about 15 minutes, it just says "unable" to successfully install.

Has anyone else seen this one?

I'm having trouble as well. I am running windows 2003. Any ideas?

Yes, actually...

The next day, I downloaded the SP1 (the full, do-every-version one), and
tried running that manually. Same result. So, it's not an Automatic Updates
problem.

A message in the Event Log (or, an MS web page linked to from there)
indicated a failure to confirm the installer package was not tampered with,
possibly due to a resource shortage. Well, I have plenty of unallocated
memory and drive space, but there are other resources...

I found that by turning off the Local Policy (just for administrators) for
the verifcation, the installation would proceed.

I'll see if I can dig up the How-To for that...
