Visual Studion 2005 SP1 fails to install

Visual Studion 2005 SP1 fails to install properly under window update.
Error Code: 0x643

Does anybody have an idea how to get around this?

I tried it several times without anti-virus and then tried a second
computer. Same result.

Thanks that fixed my Windows 2003 Server system.

To fix this latest issue where the download fails with a 0x800B0003 error
code download the file individually to your hard drive, start drive and go
away for a couple of hours.

G'day from downunder,
I have tried downloading and installing this twice on a Windows 2003 Server
Enterprize Edition and still get the 0x643 problem even after appling the fix
linked to by luv2run. The machine is a 1.5 Gigabyte IBM X225 Dual Xeon. Any
further ideas?

machines.
Are you sure you are still getting the 643 error or an 0x800b0003 error.
If so try downloading seperately ouside of windows update.
Put the installer on your desktop logged in as an Administrator locally on
the machine and run the install. This cleared up the 3rd machine for me.

I am running as local administrator on a virtual server 2005 box, running
Server 2003.

I had the web project and web deployment add-ins installed.

Once I removed them, I was able to get my web developer express to accept sp1.

Studio is still resistant. I added the suggested security policy, and I am
still failing.

I was really hoping to make it 3/4, but now it's down to 2/4

I was just using the standard Administrator user which appears to be a local
account. I tried creating a new user called LocalAdmin and made it a member
of both Users and Administrators, logged in as that and setup all the Active
X stuff but the Visual Studio Update still failed. There doesn't seem to be a
Grouping called "Local Administrators" to make the account a member of.
I don't believe I have ever installed Visual Studio expicitly on this
machine, I suspect it got inatalled in conjunction with SQL Server 2005, is
that your situation?

I will have to leave that till another day as the repeated 450 Megabyte
download is eating into mt download limit from my ADSL account. However I
suspect there is something deeper that we don't understand, any one else with
an idea?

This Server is just a test Server used for Software Development in the
Database area.
