VLC Mediaplayer

Hello:
I would like to download VLC Mediaplayer. I would like to only play AVI
using this player, and use WMP for everything else.
1- Is VLC ver. 0.8.6c compatable with VIStA?
2- How do I default the AVI to VLC Mediaplayer? I understand VISTA
defaults, but need someone who understands the install of VLC
Mediaplayer--- to let it only play AVI.
PS: I have not downloaded the VLC Mediaplayer, before I ask these
questions.

Hello Max,

1. I use it since it was released with Vista

2. Rightclick an .avi file, open with>choose default program> either you
can see VLC or you can browse for it.

when you install VLC you can chose the file formats it is resposible for playing.
