Machine 1) Athalon 1800+ with 1Gb RAM and W2k
Machine 2) laptop 7500 Intel 2GB RAM and Vista Business

If I create a VM for W2k in W2k machine it runs fine. If I create a VM for
W2k in Vista machine it is unusable. Very choppy and slow. If I copy the VM
I made from machine 1 to machine 2 it is fine. Why?

What is the creation of the VM on the Vista machine doing to slow things up.
And why does it work fine if it is copied. The only diff is VPC2004 on
machine 1 and VPC2007 on machine 2.

Have you checked to make sure Hardware-assisted virtualisation is enabled in
options? Does the Athlon 1800+ support hardware virtualisation?

How much RAM are you assigned to the Windows 2K on Vista? I am running
Windows XP Pro in VPC 2007 on Vista with at least 1 GB.

Do the test again with the same versions of Virtual PC on all hosts then
report.
You cannot go around comparing different products on different OS's and
inferring anything.
