I have XP SP 3 installed in my VPC2007. When I started up my xp vhd it did
a disk check and fixed some errors with a few indexes. When it boots now,
the Windows XP boot screen comes up for 15 or 20 seconds, then the xp vhd
restarts. It continues to do this, it never gets to the login screen. What
would cause this and is there a log I can look at to determine the cause?

Thanks

ouch, VPC. Sorry man, these things are really hardcore because it
virtual. What you may need to do is put in your XP cd and try to repai
it that way or system restore it. apart from that, you may have t
reinstall your VH

I can' t even get into the vhd to try and do a restore or use my xp cd.
I did remove the vhd from VPC and create a new virtual machine and
added the vhd to it. But that went nowhere fast.

You can still boot to a CdRom cant you? I know you can in VMware player
that way the virtual machine can still be diagnosed and fixed

Booting from the XP cd should always be possible. You are not yet accessing
the vhd when you do so. Unless you changed the BIOS settings in the virtual
machine, the cd should boot by first mounting it and then using Reset on the
console Action menu.
