On Vista Business SP1 I created a total of 3 outgoing VPN connections using
the built-in "connect to a workplace" wizard. A 4th VPN connection was
later added from a CMAK-generated program.
I was working on a script that the CMAK'd VPN connection would run after
connecting, so I was connecting and disconnecting a lot with that one.
Occasionally I would connect with one of the other connections which went to
the same business but didn't run the script. Never both at the same time.
At a certain point I found that I couldn't disconnect from the CMAK'd VPN
connection. It was active and working, but the Disconnect link was simply
gone. And when I looked at Network Connections, the CMAK'd connection and 2
of the other VPN connection were simply GONE. I rebooted but nothing came
back.
So I re-creatd the missing VPN connections and re-installed the CMAK'd
connection and resumed my work on it. Several hours later, the same thing
happened again. This time it only took out the CMAK connection and one of
the other VPN connections.
For all the VPN connections I re-created, they all show up as "Connection
Name 2" when connected. I suspect when I create them again, they will be
"Connection Name 3".
I doubt anyone will have an answer for this, I'm just posting in case anyone
else happens to come searching here for this problem.
