I have installed a file server cluster and I have 12 different partitions on
a HP eva. each partition is asigned to a different server in the cluster.
When I use the mmc for failoverclusters and use share an storage maintenage.
I can see that there should be an option for shadowcopies, because there is
an column that states shadowcopy, but on all the shares the collum is empty.

When I go to computermaintenage and connect to the core server I can add VSS
on the share. When I do a list on the core server with Vssadmin list
shadows, I Am able to see the VSS copy's.

When node 1 breaksdown and the share changes to node 2
VSS is disabled for this share and receives the standard VSS schedule
settings.

What is the right way to install vss on a FILE server cluster node?

Procedure is documented here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838421

You should make sure that you have your fileshare configured correctly...it
should depend on a network name resource and a disk resource. You may also
try applying the latest VSS rollup kit.
