I had a user getting a VSS Event ID 8193
"Context:
Execution Context: Shadow Copy Optimization Writer
Writer Class Id: {4dc3bdd4-ab48-4d07-adb0-3bee2926fd7f}
Writer Name: Shadow Copy Optimization Writer
Writer Instance ID: {3ac1ae23-9a84-47a9-b6f0-a052f6891f52}
The handle is invalid"

I also noticed that (1) there were a number of User Profile Service
1500's in the list too "The following information was included with the
event: Access is denied. The handle is invalid" (2) McAfee Total
Protection was not updating and freezing when manually requesting it to
update.

I went to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\] and checked the Profile Path against the
User SID in the Event 1500: McAfee.

I uninstalled McAfee, deleted that SID's registry block and profile
from C:\Users.

Windows Backup is now functioning.

I will cross my fingers when I reinstall McAfee.

Hope this helps someone!

Do yourself a favor and don't reinstall McAfee's bloatware. Find something -
anything - else to protect your system with.
