W2K windows update not working

I run windows update, it goes to the site, I am able to run the scan, but
when I try to install updates, no matter how many, 1 or all, the download
window comes up. Nothing downloads or installs, then a new page comes up
that says :

No Updates Were Installed

The following items failed to install. To try installing them again, click
Review and install updates, and then click Install Now again.

I am able to install them manually by downloading the KB. any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Windows Update Checklist

Are there any specific erros in the update log?

Open Internet Explorer and either type or copy and then paste this into the Address
bar:
%windir%\windowsupdate.log


Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error code(s)
associated with the latest failed attempt to download/install.

If there are errors, copy and paste the log into this thread and perhaps someone may
be able to assist further.
