I have windows server 2003 enterprise, no service pack. I went to the
windows update site today. The site forced me to install new update
software, which seemed to complete ok. Then I find I am in the endless
loop of failure as others have reported in this newsgroup.
"Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or
installed on your computer"
I manually forced the install of the latest update software. I also
manually registered every dll. Didn't fix the error.
The main error in the update log is:
WARNING: WU client failed Searching for update with error 0x80244001
I believe I have already done way more than an ordinary computer user
would do to resolve this bug -- or should be expected to do. It seems to
be a bug in the MS update system. When will this be fixed? Until this is
fixed, there will be no updates.
Since windows was registered I have installed 500mb memory, removed and
installed drives, and updated my bios. Could this be a problem?
