W2k8 DFS, several problems

Hi,

I have two W2k8 servers, both running as DC, replicating some file shares.
The domain is in 2008 mode, the DFS also.

First problem: clients are connecting to \\domain\dfs\share and running
programs from this share. Each time they start a program, there is a
security warning that opening the file from this location may be insecure.
If the clients connect to \\server\share instead, the program starts
without problems.

Second problem: sometimes I can see problems accessing files on the DFS
share for writing. If I download a file with a few 100 megs with Firefox,
saving it to the DFS share directly, the file will be broken after the
download. Downloading it to the local computer and copying to the DFS share
afterwards is working.

And last problem: a program opening files for writing on the DFS share
often gets write errors, because some other process seems to lock the
files. The DFS replication should copy the file to the other server, but
how can I finetune this locking? Programs writing files to the DFS share
often just don't work.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Ingo,

To prevent this, you should add the domain to the list of trusted intranet
zones. You can do this via Internet Explorer or Group Policy.

John

Thanks, but do you have a solution for the other questions also?

Hi Ingo,

For your second problem:Can you give me the details of what kind of error
Firefox displays when you're downloading the file?

Regards,

John
