W2k8 Failover-Clustering and WNLB

Hello,

InWindows 2008, I have to install both: failover-cluster and NLB on the same
system (2 nodes), and I would like to aks you some specific questions,
because I'm not an expert of NLB:

1. Is WLNB and Failerclustering on the same system supported?
2. As far as I have understood, the network-MAC-Adress of the NICs are
changed to use the same. So, I think, I cannot use the public Cluster-NICs
for NLB -> I must have dedicated NICs for NLB? Right?

Many Thanks
Rudz

No, they are not.

I am not sure if I understand your question. If you have two NICs per node
and you are asking which ones are supposed to be used for NLB, the answer is
the ones that will be accessed by client computers.

Thank you Russ,

due to your reply, that Failoverclustering and NLB are not supported on a
two-Node-System, the second question is obsolete (can I use the
public/client-NICs of the Failover-Clustering for NLB - no, even Extra-NICs
fpr NLB are not supported in a Failover-Cluster).
