W2K8 installation problem

Hi,
my upgrade installation from W2K3 to W2K8 fails after the restart, when
the new OS tries to expand the files. As the failed setup is then
automatically rolled back, is there any trace left where I can find the
reason for the problem?
Thanks
Peter

Hello Peter,

Check if the setupact.log and setuperr.log exist.

Best regards

Hello Peter,
This article should help
928901 Log files that are created when you upgrade to Windows Vista from an
earlier version of Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;928901
Sounds like this section
"The following log files are created when an upgrade fails during
installation before the computer restarts for the second time: "
• C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log
• C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\miglog.xml
• C:\Windows\setupapi.log

Thanks,
