After staring at Vista's rotating 'green circle of light' for a period of
about 3-4 minutes, watching it go round and round and round and round
......, I found myself falling into a deep hypnotic trance.
Time sped by and when I next glanced at the clock, a full 2 hours had gone
by. To this day I have no idea what happened during this lost period
(abducted by aliens or whatever). [Someone apparently heard snoring]
Anyhow, after this experience I also noticed that I'd lost all ability to
think critically. I simply believed whatever was suggested, without ever
asking any questions!
For example, one line condescending platitudes of some newsgroup regulars,
now actually seemed like useful helpful information. Comments from Microsoft
employees now appeared stripped of any company-promoting propaganda. It was
as if I were now wearing the green goggles required to enter the Wizard of
Oz's Emerald City; a world where now all was naturally green; The goggles
locked at the back of the head using an unheld key, but with (it would seem)
no way to remove them.
Oh, how to wake up from this state and regain the ability to think
critically and see the world colourfully once again? How to avoid the lure
of this seductive green circle?
Thanks
