Want to change option to auto-open documents upon downloading

In my old version of Windows I had a dialog box that came up when I
downloaded files that asked me if I wanted to open it automatically after
saving it. On my XP Professional I cannot find anywhere to set that option.
Right now I have to save the document, then go into the folder where I saved
it to open it. I want it to save and then automatically open (whether Word,
Excel, PPT, etc) once the save is completed. Help!

My Computer, Tools menu, Options, File Types, highlight the filetype, click
Advanced. Note the check for "Confirm open after download"

Vista does not have that interface. "Full Control" of a file is a controlled
right that can only be assigned expressly, on a file by file basis during
any download. This would be done by the installer, which goes through the
UAC control. XP was not that advanced in security.

Thanks Mark, I got into the folder but once I highlighted the Word doc, for
example, the advance button was still grayed out. Is there something I
needed to do before then to get it to open, other than highlighting the
application?

No, I don't know why you cannot click Advanced. My system does it. I would
guess it's some Permissions problem.
