but I can't figure out how to do it. I do not see the option when I
go to the display properties settings in vista. I have an HP
pavillion w/ a 22" monitor. Any ideas?

Thanks!

John

The monitor resolution (width/height) determines what the display looks
like.
Mine is set at 1400x990 and it works fine with my 19" widescreen LCD.
I believe the settings that are optimal for your screen are listed in the
manual.
You can change to several different resolutions and see what looks good to
you.

that is a function of the display adaptor driver... or if your monitor has
that function as a standard then it usually comes with a software that
enables this ...

I remember one that was called PIVOT...

check the cd that came with the screen

Is there an icon for your video card in the system tray (ATI or nVidia)? If
so, it may have rotation settings.

Also look in Control Panel | Windows Mobility Center, there may be a screen
rotation setting available.

YMMV

This will vary a lot depending on video card/monitor. For example I
have a Dell 24 inch wide Ultra Sharp and if I click on the Nvidia
Control Panel (usually you can get here by right clicking on your
desktop if you don't see a special icon in the task tray)

For mine, under related tasks I can have the following:

1. landscape (no rotation) normal default setting
2. portrait 90 degrees left or landscape
3. 90 degrees right or inverted portrait
4. 180 degrees inverted landscape

Note: Not much use unless your monitor ALSO tilts.
