I want to completely remove the Windows Genuine Update tool from my computer
but without having to uninstall/reinstall Windows XP. Can anyone tell me how?

In Add/Remove programs, it says 'This update cannot be removed' so don't
bother to tell me to go there. I tried that. Can't delete it from there.

Why do you want to remove it?

And the reason this wasn't explained on the WU site is? Why was it
listed as a "critical" update when it does not benefit the end user one
iota or make their system more secure?

Hi guys! I just became a member.
I know also that this has nothing to do with Patte question, and I
appologise to "Patte" for this, however I had to find a way of comunicating
with the group because I have difficulties in posting my question. I have
clicked in the "new" icon to enable a question's posting, and nothing
happens. Hope to get some help from anyone.

Three quarters of users want to be sure that their Windows is legit.

The option not to install Notifications is under examination.

There is no doubt that the corporation regards the matter as critical.

You appear to be using a web-based interface to this newsgroup. This means
that you might have a popup-blocker interfering with your web browser's
attempts to give you a page for a post on a new topic.

Alternatively, you might consider using a proper newsreader application,
rather than the web interface.

Please. Most people know if it's legit or not.

"During the first stages of the rollout, 1.2 million people were offered the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications application,
with 850,000 choosing to participate.
The very high opt-in rate confirms that customers want to know if they have
unknowingly purchased counterfeit software." Quoted from:
