I want "Details" in all views, dammit, *ALL* views...

I think the title says it all. I've scanned this group for help and
found a post from "brink" in May 2007 saying that Vista will randomly
revert to whatever Explorer view it feels like even after I've used
the "tools/view/apply to all folders" and "customise/all items/apply
to all folders" and whatever other tweak I've found on the web.
Nothing works. Even within the same sub-directory structure I get
icons instead of details. I don't want icons - I ALWAYS ALWAYS want
details.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks for any advice.

Are you using any type of registry cleaner or something like CCleaner? It
could be that the settings are getting cleared out by a 3rd party
application. BTW: I have no problem applying the view across folders so that
tells me something.

Hi dont,

I would be the one from that post. As Richard Urban stated, make sure
that you do not have any 3rd party program that is set to clear the
folder view settings when ran.

Method Two in this tutorial will show you how to reset the folder view
settings so Vista will remember your changes. When you make your
changes to the Explorer window, close it to save the settings. Vista
will only remember the way it is when you last close the window.

Shawn,
Thanks for that. I've done what you suggested in your article (very
comprehensive - impressive) and jumped down the directory trees on
several disks, and all of them display details. Magic. I hope they
stay that way.
I don't have any third party apps running which would clear the
settings.
Thanks to both of you for the advice - much appreciated.

Your welcome dont,

They should stay that way unless something clears the cache. If it
does, just reset it again and all will be fine again.

Thank you for the feedback,
Shawn
