want to merge or sync two user accounts on one computer

Hi,

I used Vista Easy Transfer to transfer my files from my old XP laptop to my
new desktop with Vista. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that the XP had my
user name as my full (first and last) name, while the user name on my new
Vista computer was just my nickname. As a result, I now have two user
accounts for one person: All my transferred document and picture files,
including my FrontPage website files, are under one username (my full
moniker), and my new e-mail and web favorites are under the nickname account,
which I believe is the administrative account. I can't get access to my
printer, for example, from the imported user account. I prefer to work from
the nickname account that came with the new computer.

How can I bring in the document and website files that are in the second
user account into my preferred user account that I set up on the Vista
computer? I want these to be my main working files, so I don't want to have
to hunt for them. I also am afraid of corrupting my website files and need to
have them transferred intact from one user to the other.

Thanks from both of me--

I too have the problem (no solution as yet). Upon initializing my new
computer, I set up only one account, administrative type. Recently, a
Microsoft document stated that it is better from a security point of view to
work routinely with a "standard" account. So I set up a standard account. I
now want to transfer all the settings, desktop configuration, files, etc.
from the administrative account to the standard account (to avoid setting up
the standard account from scratch). I guess I should post my problem
separately on the theory that two posts of the same problem will be answered
faster than one.

Good luck!

Thanks, ramsgate, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I had an idea for
another approach that I would be willing to live with--to keep the second
user but somehow make the separation between users "transparent," so that
when I was in my preferred user, I could select "show all users" and then
"show all user files" and the files from BOTH users would be visible and
accessible. Then I could open files from either user and work on them and
save changes. Is there a way to do that?
