I d/l sp2 on my laptop with no problems. My desktop has been a frustrating
experience.

I have ensured bits and Win Update services are running.
I have cleared the Software distribution folder
I have reset all of the browser security and privacy settings as specified
and cleared the cookies, history and objects
I have disabled norton AV and closed any open applications

The updates site comes up and provides two options: Express and Custom

I select Express and it returns with "Your computer appears to be up-to-date"

Obviously not! as I have yet to get SP2. What do I do now????

Do it the easy way!! Several posts in this and other Newsgroups state that
Microsoft SP2 on CD are now available (for free) at Staples, Circuit City,
and other stores of that type [Office Max, Office Depot, etc). GO GET ONE.
This would be a CD [266MB] with an update scanner and every change since
since XP was first fielded. If you get one, apply it and then KEEP it in a
safe place in case you ever have to re-install XP.

Order it online from MS or check out the computer magazines in the UK.

Computer Buyer Magazine are intending to include
SP2 with their 'November' issue, out around
mid-September.
