Want WLMail from signin & WMessenger-Don't want any Hotmail or OE/

When I sign into WLMessenger and see that I have Mail indicated at the mail
icon, I press it and it takes me to WLMail even though the mail is not there
it seems to be in WLHotmail with no way to get to WLHotmail from there after
clicking the envelope.
(I have never had an Hotmail or Outlook Express account and don't want
either on VISTA.)

I tried PeterR's suggestion of not signing into WLMail first, but the same
situation happened. My recent move to VISTA has been confusing because some
of my emails go to WLMail and some go to WLHotmail
seemingly arbitrarily.

How can I get rid of WLHotmail? Windows Mail (for Old OE) so that all my
Live.com emails go to WLMail??????

AND--- from WLMessenger envelope icon, I get WLMail with ALL my emails in
one spot?
Thanks, RuthF.

Greetings Ruth,

When you have a live.com account, you automatically get a Hotmail account for mail. As such,
you can receive mail within Hotmail or within Windows Live Mail.

When you click the mail icon in Messenger, it will either send you to Live Mail or Hotmail.
However, it will only send you to Live Mail if you're signed into the Live Mail application
under the same Live ID. The intended scenario is that you receive a mail notification in
Messenger, which then tells Live Mail to automatically download the message so when you get
into Live Mail, it's there and waiting.

It does sound like everything is working except that your Live.com mail account is not setup
within Live Mail. To add it, open up Live Mail, press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring
up the menu bar, choose Tools, then Accounts, then Add and go through the wizard.
