Warning message? Win Media Player 12

1--I get the following message everytime I load a disk to rip or play...it
will play but not rip.

"Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn,
or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that
has been moved, renamed, or deleted. "

2- - WMP 12 does not allow me to see my collection on my external hardrive.
What gives??

Is the location specified in WMP's Tools:Options:Rip Music valid?
