I have just upgraded from XP to Vista (I did a clean install). I have 2
internal hdd's and 2 external. When I was using XP, they all worked. Since
I upgraded, only 3 of the for work. My other external drive is much older
than the Mybook drive and Vista recognized it right away. I tried three
different usb ports and it still doesnt work and I reinstalled the driver
numereous times. Here is what shocks me, the Mybook drive shows up in device
manager (and it says its working properly and there appears to be no issues
with it.) and shows up in my computer but doesnt show up in the safely
remove button. When I click on the WD icon in my computer, it says "ACCESS
DENIED". I changed the user setting to disable and then I could access the
hdd in my combuter but some files still said "ACCESS DENIED". So I turned
the setting back to enable and I cant even access the hdd. Please help, Ive
been working on this problem for 2 days and Im very frustrated.

Brian

Thanks for the input, but you got the drive mixed up. It is a Western
Digital Mybook 1TB hdd.

There is nothing on their website about my issue. I deleted Vista and
reinstalled XP last night and got the hdd working. Im gonna try to just do
an upgrade from XP to Vista and see if that works.

It's probably a driver issue then. Best to check with WD about this.
