"Not work" is useless information. What happened? What have you tried?

Hi Risk,

Have you tried connecting to WMDC over USB first? You will need a hard
connection first in order to start our services. Then you will be able to
use bluetooth.

Thanks,
Jane Ly

hx4700 looks like an HP device. HP and Motorola use the Broadcom Bluetooth
stack which has not yet added support for the sync UUID so it cannot find
the WMDC sync service. Because of this, devices with this version of the
Bluetooth stack on them need to have Bluetooth set up as a COM port on the
desktop and then you'll need a registry hack to get WMDC to connect to them.
We're working to make this easier in future versions of WMDC.

Hi Gary,

Again, I just want to be able to send a file from my HP rw6828 (using
Windows Mobile 5.0) phone to the PC (Windows XP Professional). Thing is, I
can successfully create a pairing between the PC and the HP - so the PC is
therefore obviously reading the bluetooth from the HP. Also, can send files
by bluetooth from the PC to the HP. But can't do it in reverse. It is a
one-way street. Are you able to tell me, step-by-step how to set up my PC so
that it will receive file transfers.

For your further information, in Bluetooth Configurations these are the
settings I have in place (whether they make sense or not):
Accessibility: [the phone is selected - "allowed to connect to this computer]
Local Services / file transfer - secure connection / not required
Client Applications / file transfer - secure connection / required (note
I've tried changing this to "not required" - didn't help)

Awaiting (hopefully) your advice.

Thanks in advance.
Sean

Sorry, you're trying to do things outside of the WMDC feature set and I've
never used an HP device, so I'm not sure how things work with that
particular product.

Thanks, Gary,
Could you please read on.
First of all...
the problem is not restricted to transfers from the HP.
For instance, an attempted transfer of a jpg file and of an htm file from an
Apple Mac failed. The message on the Mac stated:
"File type not accepted (the target device claims it will not accept a file
of the type you are trying to send"
....but it gives the option "SEND ANYWAY?" ...and when I select that option
it states:
"connecting to the IBM PC" then ultimately
"The file transfer failed: internal error"

Secondly... I'm not sure what a WMDC feature is, no need for you to answer,
I'll look it up... but since the problem arises with the most common file
transfer functionality (basically mates and colleagues sending single files
from one device to another) the problem seems to me to be a fault with the
Microsoft Windows software. This is evident because I've tried sending from
not only the HP mobile, but also from a Sony mobile and a PowerBook G4.

(Thanks again Gary for trying. Is there any other resource you can point me
to... as Microsoft do not seem to offer any direct support despite the fact
that I purchased this unit only 6 months ago.)

If your PC is using the Bluetooth support that comes built in to Windows
Vista (not sure how you'll know if your PC OEM replaced it) you could try
posting on one of the Vista newsgroups. Everything in this newgroups is
going to be around things that are specific to Windows Mobile devices.
