I have had many e-mails about MSN becoming "user-charged" where we will have
to pay £10.00 to use it. Is this true?

Greetings,

No, trash these junk mails and tell the people sending them to stop sending them.

Snopes, or similar, is your friend:

if you send a reply to a spammer all that you will achieve is that you will
let them know that your email is valid
and it reaches a person... that email then goes to a white list and sold
to other spamers...

Eh? It is unlikely that spammers are sending this hoary old Urban Legend;
except, possibly, as "hash buster" text used to pad their real payload to
evade filters.

This kind of message is, typically, sent by the clueless users who've
received it from someone else, and are passing it on in the misguided belief
that they are helping to keep the service free. Unless, of course, the
sender is one of the slick kiddies trying to keep the legend alive, and jerk
people around.

Hi,

There's no problem replying to a chain mail from someone you know and telling them they're
silly and need to turn their brain back on

Not saying anything is what keeps these things going.

Chain mail != spam.

> whatever the case, you should not reply to it...

If I get stupid chain mail from friends, I try to clue them in using gentle
persuasion. Spammers don't seem to be in the habit of forwarding chain mail.
