I have had problems connecting to the internet using Vista ultimate, so I
did a clean install with SP1 and installed norton ghost V12 so
I could make a backup of the clean install , I can connect to my ISP but
cannot go any further, there is no animation of the internet icon in the
taskbar even though it is turned (animation) on , the diagnostic link could
not give any answers, and when the internet icon in the taskbar is right
clicked and open the network settings (bottom of the list) it shows My ISP
to my Computer OK but from my computer to the internet is a large
X which means I cannot get out to the web________I have struggled with this
for quite a while and quite a substantial telephone cost_any help would be
gratefully received _____Thanks again Bill in OZ

With kind regards

How do you connect to the internet?
Through DSL, Cable, dialup?
Do you have a router?
Do you have a firewall enabled?
Usually you have to be 'online' to 'see' your ISP.

Um, have you tried bitching at your ISP? If you're able to connect to
the ISP, but you're not getting any internet, then most likely they
didn't set up your account correctly, giving you limited connectivity.
