web page links on 64 bit machine using IE 32 bit

Hello everyone,
I am new to Windows 7 and this news group and I hope this is the correct
group.
I have a Hp 64 bit machine with Windows 7. The IE8 using 64 bit seems to
work ok but some websites do not recognize IE8 64 bit and I have to switch
to the IE8 32 bit. Problem is, on many if not all websites, my 64 bit
machine running IE32 bit will not recognize many of the hot links on a given
web site. If I save these links to 'favorites' and go from there, they work
so I know the links are good.
Question is: does anyone have a fix for this or is it chronic to this
situation on a 64 bit machine. I have looked at MS web sites and can find
nothing relating to this.
To have to switch back and forth from IE8 64 to IE8 32 when surfing the web.
This is bothersome on a new machine.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't think I understand your problem, but there is really no reason to
use 64-bit IE, at this time. You don't have to switch back and forth, just
use the 32-bit version for everything. The 64-bit version will not run
add-ons, so maybe that is your problem?

Simply declare IE8 32 bit as your default browser - once again.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sorry I didn't make myself clear. The
32 bit IE is the default browser. The 64 bit cannot be made a default as I
am told by my computer. Now for the problem. IE 32 bit will not recognize
all links on a give web page. FireFox does. For example: this web page
that I use often,

non of the http links in the text will operate with IE 32 bit although I
know they are ok links.
I cannot find any reason for it.
I guess using only FireFox is the answer. I will search Microsoft again for
some answers.

Well I don't know why or what MS has done but I got it working. '
What I have to do is right click on the links and select "translate with
Bing" from the pop up menu at the link and the link comes up and displays as
it should.
This is nuts but it works now anyway. I am going to play with it some
more and investigate what is going on.

Translate with Bing is an 'accelerator'. Go to Tools, then select Manage
Add-ons. This will show you all of your Toolbars/Extensions, Accelerators,
etc... One of them is probably not letting the links work properly. Did
you try it in No Add-Ons mode?

Hi,
I also found that "translate in Bing" is available in the drop down menu
"page".
That works too.
I could find no way to select "No Add-Ons Mode" I will keep looking.
Any way, it works now

Gene, you're using a tool (add-on, accelerator, etc...) that was designed to
translate foreign-language web pages. If you have to do that to get links
to connect, then it is not working.

Click Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Internet Explorer (No
Add-ons)
