Web sites not recognizing browser version

My anti-virus software deleted this virus:
"not-a-virus:WebToolbar.win32.MyWebSearch.dt"

Following this, both Yahoo and Facebook will not load properly using
Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 3.0. The Yahoo site displays a message
recommending that I upgrade to IE 7.0, Firefox 2.0, and/or several other
applications. The message on Facebook says that the site does not support my
browser and also recommends the same applications. I downloaded the latest
Windows XP Service Pack 3, and installed all IE 7 updates, but the problem
still exists. If anyone knows a solution to this problem, I would greatly
appreciate the help.

Thanks, Wendy Z.

MyWebSearch might have brought along some friends.

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachi...php?board=10.0, or other
appropriate forums for review by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.
