Webcam no longer working with MSN

For about 5wks now, my logitech webcam will no longer connect with my contact
and their's with mine. We can chat online but our cameras do not work with
each other, they just timeout and not connect. Rarely I can send my video but
not receive theirs at all.

I updated my drivers for the camera with no luck and using the current
version of 8.1 msgr on XP. I can send and recieve video using Skype but not
MSn or Yahoo.

Could not find MSN 8.5 Beta to dwnld and try.
Help required pls.

Can it be a bandwidth problem? What about microphones, do they connect?
Strange is that it started just some tie ago. Is it possible for you to
borrow another webcam to se if it works?

I thought it was just me, but now I find out others are having the same
problem. For the last 2 years, I've been communicating via webcam with my
daughter in South Korea. Although not always clear and often with noise in
the background which I attributed to the distance, the connection was still
fairly good. However for the last 5 weeks, I have been totally unable to
connect. Trying to connect from either my end or my daughters end results
in the same problem. Nothing happens and eventually times out. I tried the
beta version with the same results. We both use logitech webcams. At my
daughter's suggestion, I downloaded and installed Skype as she did. We
connected on the first try and the connection was unbelieavbly clear and
noise free. You would think she was next door. Far better than Messenger
ever was.

I think you made the point. I see Messenger as a "free-time" tool, to chat
with your friends and perhaps use micro or webcam to play a little further.
If you really want to keep in touch with somebody far away via webcam and
micro, I'd say Skype is far better.

For Skype to Skype communications, it is free as Messenger is. So, for the
same price, I've decided that Skype is now my new tool....

I've been using MSN Messenger, now widow Live Messenger 8.5, for a couple
years. Right around the end of 2007 it stopped working well. My friend now
has a choppy voice. Messenger's email support was no help. It may be a
bandwidth problem. We have started using Skype to Video conference now. I
never liked Skype as well, but it works better now.

I started having the exact same issue starting early December. I am now
downloading Skype to see if it makes a difference.

It sure put a damper on the holidays not being able to open presents with my
family back home. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem.
