Have one PC with Office Communicator 2005 (version 1.0.559).
Have one PC with Windows Live Messenger 2008 (build 8.5.1302.1018).

Both PCs have functioning webcams.

Try to initiate a webcam session between the two PCs.

The Communicator PC says: "Cannot start the selected conversation type with
this person. Send an instant message instead."

The Live Messenger PC says: "Your invitation to share your webcam could not
be sent because < Name > is using a version of Messenger that does not
support this feature."

Both Communicator and Messenger have menu options to select webcams.

Any ideas on why this won't work?

Thanks.

Greetings,

This won't work in this scenario. The two clients are not compatible -- like the error
message says.

MSFT has multiple IM products - can you only do webcams with the same product
at both ends? Which products will work together?

Hi,

About the only thing that will work with Office Communicator A/V that isn't Office
Communicator is the latest Messenger:Mac 7.

Windows Live Messenger A/V is only compatible with itself - there are some third party IM
clients that have limited support (aMSN) but that's about it.
