I had this problem twice, I got office ultimate 2007 installed, with selected
tools installed, after running my Vista peacefully for around 1 or more
months, when I try to add another component to my office, the office
installer stops responding whenever I try to launch it, I didn't know how to
solve this issue. The problem solved when I format my PC, and it came back
second time.

Another case similar, some menu in my OneNote 2007 make my OneNote stops
responding whenever I clicked on it, yet, reinstallation do not solve it.

Sometimes I feel like Vista will causing some weird problem that is vey
difficult to solve when running for long time, specially when lots of
software installed.

How do I solve this problem whenever I got this problem?

I would

1. make a System Restore Point
2. copy the Office Folder entirely somewhere else
3. uss Add/Remove Programs to uninstall office.
4. reboot
5. make sure no Office Program Files remain
6. re-install office with all the components

If this fails Restore the Point you made and copy Office back to where it
was
and you will be no worse off. My thinking is that some update may have
caused
your issue.

There is also an office group where you might get more help.
