Weird button on screen

Start up my HP Vista PC, and I have a button on the desktop, far upper
left corner, that says "Server Prot..."

Can't move it, get properties on it, or push it!

Couple other people on the 'net have asked about it, but no answer.
No one on google groups has asked anywhere.

Anyone know what this is? Should I be worried?

Hallo,
i've the same problem.
I've tryed to investigate a bit and i found that's "Steam" that display the
"button".

If you close Steam, the button will disappear.

I don't know if this a new feature related to the latest update of the Valve
client or other, but for now i have no more the button displayed.
It's useful to examine all the Settings in the configuration of the client
too.
