Weird problem: new programs don't create a folder in the Start menu...

This is a strange one.
Some programs that I install, mainly games, simply don't seem to create
any program folder in the Start menu structure (which of course they do
in XP). If it would be ALL programs that did this, I could think
something is broken, but this is rather selective...

What causes this, and how can it be corrected?

Thanks.

P.S.: I shall add that said programs install completely and correctly,
and the manual creation of a shortcut palliates to the problem, but
that's rather a pain in the butt...

The all users start menu is now private except to an admin, running as
admin. Set your command prompt properties to run as admin, then run the game
install from the prompt. Something like:
start c:\games\setup.exe

Some programs will have this as a yes/no option during install. I have a
couple of older games that don't even have this option, they rely on
inserting the CD to start the game.

Thanks, Mark, that did the trick
Not to sound uselessly ironic, but as a genuine question, is it a bu
or a feature?! If it's a feature, it's weird in its implementation..
Any other way to circumvent that? As in changing the rights on the Al
Users folder or anything like that

Thanks again

Well, bug, feature, it's always the same story. Old apps have a hard time
with new systems.

Then I would be inclined to say it's a bug, as one can hardly qualify
World in Conflict and Company of Heroes, to take just these two, as old
apps...
But hey, at least there's workaround now.
