Welcome Screen Issue After Wake Up From Sleep

I am running Vista Home Edition Basic. When the welcome screen appears after
my laptop wakes up from sleep the screen does not cover the entire monitor
(only 2/3rds of the surface). After logging in my desktop does fill the
entire surface. This issue does not occur when I do a cold boot. I am using
a Dell Inspiron 1545. Any suggestions? Thanks

The welcome screen is probably 800x600, and instead of scaling it to fit
your monitor screen, Windows displays it as 800x600 (or some other
resolution, I'm just guessing the numbers).

I personally wish mine would do that - I think it looks better than a
window scaled to fit the full screen.

My desktop Inspiron i545 did the same thing, when I accidentally clicked the
sleep mode rather than shut off. My screen now does not fill the monitor in
any mode. Any suggestions on how to get the screen to resize?

By "mode", do you mean screen resolutions or something else?

If you mean something else, then I suggest you change your screen
resolution.
