You cannot hide WinXP SP3 (if that's what you're referring to) but if you
have Automatic Updates configured properly, you can decline to download
and/or install it.
Consider the following before you decide not to install WinXP SP3:
1. If SP3 is not installed by next year, your machine will not be offered
any further critical security updates and you will not be able to use
Windows Update website.
2. MS is offering free installation and compatibility support for WinXP SP3
but only until mid-April 2009!
