Reinstalled XP this morning. It's like a breath of fresh air, seriously.
Folder navigation, wow, an 'up' button and 'delete', who would have thought?
No problems with view settings either or pretentious icons, themes and
fonts.

And sound! Balanced sound once again from all speakers when I play my music,
awesome!

No memory problems and the disc drive doesn't get pointlessly overworked
even after tweaking everything. There is also a much less 'sticky' feel in
XP compared to vista, you do notice it.

It's like the point of Vista is so in years to come things we can go in full
circle and give the illusion of progress.

FF.

<Sigh> little things please little minds.....you don't NEED an "up" button
in Vista you just click on the parent folder in the address bar. Or didn't
you find that?

Yes but that doesn't always take you literally where you want to go, it's
just an abstraction like 'Documents' or 'Public' or 'Desktop' or something
similar. In XP when you navigate folders, what you see is what you get.

That's another problem with Vista, 50 technologies all layered on top of
each other and so much abstraction it treats you like a fool.

Eh? If I'm in C:/Documents and settings/All Users in XP and I click the up
button I go to C:/Documents and settings/.
If I'm in C:/Users/{My Account} in Vista and I click on "Users" in the
address bar I go to C:/Users. How is that "not where I want to go"?

I understand. Vista is a new operating system. I'ts not built on XP. Many
average users who migrate to Vista try to approach Vista like it's an
upgraded version of XP. Vista is Vista and XP is XP. They share similar
concepts but there are different operationial and administrative procedures
between the two of them. (Yes, I know that was a very general statement.)

When you're ready to put in the time it takes to learn a new OS you may come
back to Vista. Meanwhile, XP is history.

All I remember is if I wanted to go from say 'Music' to 'Downloads' I
couldn't do it via a click on the parent folder, I usually found myself
minimizing everything and clicking a desktop shortcut, just an example. Then
again I had moved my user folders from the C drive to the D drive and things
were never the same afterwards, had problems such as empty phantom folders
appearing in various places.

If you went to Organize, Layout, Navigation Pane....a directory tree would
be visible.
Easily navigate from those two folders.

Also the bread-crumb address bar shows both.

Also the back/forwards buttons.

What a little whiner you are huh? Or should I say a Vista-Troll? There is
nothing here that says he cannot remain.

In fact its better that he remains and keep posting why Vista is horrible
and XP is better.

Perhaps he will save some miserable folk who got a new computer with vista
installed and they think that its their fault its not working well!

You are totally correct.

There is a reason why big corporations are holding back and avoiding vista.

Its because its total crap!!!!

Don't listen to vista-fanboys that claim it works for them...

they probably use vista only to troll in newsgroups or play games.
