Hi Autofocus,
I had the freezing problem with the nVidia IDE driver. In your
situation, I would propose you to go on as follows:
Is an IDE driver (perhaps by ATI?) causing the problem? Check in the
control panel | system | hardware | device manager the properties
(right ckick) of your CD and DVD drives. Are they controlled by the
genuine XP drivers or by any others (your motherboard's manufacturer or
a burning program, etc.)?
Mostly the graphic interface that you see there will blah out its
origin. If these settings for your drives are disclosed by a non-XP
driver, you might wish to go into control panel | software, search for
the manufacturer's name of the said program (other than ATI) and look
for an add /remove / change menu where an IDE driver can be disabled or
removed.
You can also try to set XP's standard drivers by clicking the DRIVERS
tab in the properties manu of your IDE drives.
Only a try to help, good luck!
